Assignment #3- Cindy Sherman Portraits
My Shotplan
"Reference Photo"
Persona Portrait
"My Reference Photo"
Self-Portrait
"Behind the Smile"
Persona Portrait
Artist Statement:
I chose to do my persona portrait about abusive relationships. In this photo I have cuts and bruises all over my face and a man's hands choking my neck. I'm playing a young girl in a abusive relationship and this photo is the moment where the man feature is caught literally red handed on how he is treating the girl. I decided to do this portrait photo about abusive relationships because they are everywhere and are happening all the time. But most people find it very uncomfortable to talk about and this topic is usually brushed off and pushed into the dark. I displayed this in my photo by using my light sources, the darkness in this photo represents this problem being pushed into the dark and left not talked about. Then the spotlight on my face symbolizes the reality of this horrible issue and how it needs to be stopped, talked about and fixed. Overall, I am very pleased with how this photo came out and message it gives.

"Me"
Self-Portrait
For my self-portrait photo I had a million ideas of what I wanted to do but, they weren't working out the way I wanted them to or how I planned they would. So, for this photo I decided to do a sample setting and have me stand out to represent how I am a positive, outgoing and free person.

Journal #6- One Object in Four Ways
"Fly Away"
For this assignment I honestly had no idea what I was going to do, but after alot of thinking and testing different objects, I finally went with the butterfly theme. In the end, I really liked how it turned out because each picture has a different texture and emotion to it. I find the top right and the bottom left and right are awkward or are an odd photo because butterflies don't usually travel in the dark, but I liked how I took the butterfly out of its element and placed it in the complete opposite setting. Overall, I think it gives a very unique style to the photos.

Journal #3- Shutter Speeds
"Diesel"
Action Shot
I really liked this picture because when cats play they are usually always moving and for this picture, I got her mid playing. For this I also used shutter speed 1/1000.
"Splash"
Action Shot
I really liked how some of the other students did a picture with a glass of water and I thought it look interesting, so I decided to try it out. The shutter speed for this picture was 1/1000.
"Hot Mess"
Panning Shot
Panning Shot
For this picture using the shutter speed, Panning, I took picture of my friend walking. The shutter speed was 1/30.
"Music Note"
Light Painting
Out of all of the different shutter speeds this style was my favourite because it was so interesting and you can make whatever image you want just by using a flashlight. For this picture my shutter speed was about 5-7 seconds long.
"Ghost in Mid-Day"
Strobe Light
For this particular shot my camera wasn't able to the picture a good strobe light picture. So I was able to use another students camera for this shot. It's not the greatest picture I have ever taken, but there are a few things I like about this picture. I do like how Terry looks like a ghost out during the daytime and I also like how his hands are everywhere. For this the shutter speed was 5-10 seconds.

Journal #2- Pinhole Photography
"Here Lays The Dead"
This picture was taken inside looking through the window on the second floor for about 15-30 seconds. We had two other attempts but I think this one turned out the best. We had troubles with the other two photos because they both turned out black. I think it was either because of a light leak or too much lighting was exposed. Before I edited this photo you could barely see what it was, it was all blurry. But after I used photoshop you can clearly tell what it is and I really liked how it turned out. Overall I like the dymatic in this picture, it gives it a creepy old mysterious look to it.

Journal #1 Show Me Your Culture
Snowy Yard by Kelsey Wright
I chose to take a picture of my backyard because I usually spend most of my time out there, whether its swimming and tanning in summer or building snow forts or playing with dogs in the winter.
A Girl Loves Her Makeup by Kelsey Wright
I spend a lot of my time doing my makeup or looking at makeup, I love it. I love how you can express different expressions and emotions through makeup. For example, I can use makeup to create a natural look then do a dramatic / out there look just by the way I put makeup on. It also allows you to feel more confident and comfortable with yourself.
Avalanche by Kelsey Wright
For this journal I wanted to take a picture of my dog Avalanche, because I am always with him. Whether it's going for a run with him or just laying with him. He has so much personality and is so gentle but yet so protective of me and my family. And this picture describes his personality perfectly.
Big Ball of Wild by Kelsey Wright
Horseback riding has always been a part of my life and this is a picture I took of one of the horses I always would ride during my lessons. I've spent so much time at the barn, it gets my mind off everything and helps me just focus on the barn and riding.
My Typical Morning by Kelsey Wright
Every morning I find I do the same thing, have a tea and a bowl of cereal. I am usually always on my phone in the morning, listening to music or checking messages.

Getting to Know Your Style- Assignment #1
Emerald, BC by Darwin Wiggett
Style: Landscape
Water Valley, Alberta by Darwin Wiggett
Style: Landscape
Abraham Lake, Alberta by Darwin Wiggett
Style: Landscape
I really like this photo because it leads the eye in certain directions. It starts at the bubbles in the ice and then your eye follows the massive crack in the ice up to the beginning of the mountain. Then leads your eye up to the clouds in the sky. This picture shows how peaceful and calm the nature is, seeing this picture makes me want to visit Abraham Lake. This photo also emphasizes on contrast, there are different shades of blue and the light in this picture emphasizes the structure of the mountains. I think the photographer, Darwin Wiggett chose a great spot to take the picture.
